NEW BUILD

The Elms, Llanrhian

Planning Permission for his striking, contemporary home was gained via an appeal against an earlier decision by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to refuse it. The highly glazed elevations afford uninterrupted views over to the rolling Preseli hills to the north and to the Irish Sea to the west.

The dwelling is itself is set over three storeys, with a subterranean basement level hewn from the solid rock of the Pembrokeshire landscape, allowing the upper storeys to seemingly ‘float’ on the horizon. The dwelling is a self build and is being constructed to achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 certificate and as such is highly insulated and air tight and run almost entirely on renewable technologies, with an Air Source Heat Pump and Solar PV panels at its heart.
